Stylists were generously gifted with Miche bags for their time & service.

On Saturday January 9, 2010, five Lunatic Fringe stylists from 3 Utah salon locations styled hair & make-up for 12 cancer survivors & patients of the renowned Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. The 12 women were treated to hair make-up by not only Lunatic Fringe stylists but by other local hair stylists and make-up artists.

The twelve women ranging in age from 11-60 years old were asked to model a special cancer research hand bag that their experience with cancer and cancer treatment helped to inspire with quotes about surviving the disease. A special unveiling of the bag was revealed to over 400 Miche Bag distributors during the 2nd annual distributor conference at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Huntsman Cancer Institute has partnered with Miche Bag a Utah-based, purse company with international appeal (www.michebag.com); with a special design that allows women to change the look of their handbag without switching the contents of their bag each time.  They have come up with a cancer research shell design that is comprised of Huntsman Cancer Institute patient quotes about surviving the disease; quotes have been incorporated into the design of the bag in a chic way and $5 of each shell will benefit cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Behind the scenes with the Lunatic Fringe Artistic Team during an editorial shoot.

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

On one December morning a team of over two dozen people collaborate on one of the more ambitious editorial hair & fashion shoots in recent memory. Lunatic Fringe Artistic Team members, fashion stylist Michele Boucher, make-up artist Paula Dahlberg and photographer Jake Jarn are impassioned individuals creating provocative, up-to -the minute hair styles, fashion and make-up, all captured beautifully on film.

Don’t let all the glamour fool you, these photo shoots take a lot of work, but are also a lot of fun. Take a sneek peek at what goes on. You Tube Video creating by John Paul Studios. Enjoy!!

Q: What is your favorite part of the culture?
Valerie: The amazing team work. That we are a family and everyone is there to help one another.

Q: What is your favorite part about of giving your guest the best experience possible?
Valerie: Seeing strong friendships with my guests develop over time. Being able to see the impact I have in their lives and knowing I can make them feel better about themselves.

Q: What are your future goals with the company?
Valerie: Becoming a part of our wonderful artistic team. I have always had such a passion for hair and artwork. I would love to combine the two to help create the beautiful imagery in the salons. To be able to open a whole other part of my creativity by working closer with these amazing people behind-the-scenes of all the shows and photo shoots would be an amazing experience.

Q: What can a guest expect from you during their experience?
Valerie: A guest can expect that while they are in my chair they will be fully educated on the amazing products I’m using in their hair and why. Also, that they will leave with some tips and tricks on how to recreate their style at home.

Valerie continues to soar up in successes quickly approaching some of our top salon stylists. In a short time, we expect her to be right up there with them. To reserve a time with Valerie you can contact our Eleventh location below.

Stylist Profile – Micky from Parleys

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Thinking back on who you have met in the past, you’ll start receiving memories of the nicest and meanest people, most likely because you’ve produced more emotions in their presence. If you take a moment and think of that one person that, when you finished a conversation with, you thought to yourself, “that is the nicest person I have ever met!”, who comes to mind? Who, when graced with their energy, you spread the word to your friends and family of the ‘nice’ they shared with you?

We at Lunatic Fringe have found her.

38552612

Growing up in Santa Rosa in Northern California, Micky developed a talent for music, specifically drums. Loving the creative freedom that music gave her, Micky realized that she needed to take another route for a career and keep her love for drums an avid hobby. That is when her passion for the hair industry arrived.

Micky attended Paul Mitchell The School, Salt Lake City, 2 years after she moved to Utah. Already having one year of experience prior to her move, she quickly developed her technical skills. She actively worked on her now established portfolio, won multiple contests, and was a represenative for Paul Mitchell up in Sundance.

Following her graduation from PMTS, Micky set herself up with working with her mentor and friend, Andrew Carruthers, a master stylist for Lunatic Fringe.

Micky has quickly moved from being my favorite client to one of my favorite co-workers. When she came to me quite a few years ago as a guest in the salon, her creativity and love for hair was unmistakeable. We (Lunatic Fringe) are so lucky that she wanted to be a part of our family. I’ve rarely seen a new stylist build a clientele so quickly and continually set new standards; both for herself and the rest of the salon. I honestly believe that we have yet to see her full potential, so I’m very excited to see what’s next from our sweet little Mickey.

What’s Micky’s favorite thing about hair dressing? Getting to know new people. Creating excitement while creating a comfortable environment. She loves using creativity to guide her consultations and your hair in the right direction.

Women. Want make up tips? Micky can give you a complimentry make up application featuring new techniques and trends following a hair service.

Getting married? Need a make up artist? Micky offers her services and techniques in the salon and on-site if needed.

Men. Want a change from your coarse or curly hair? Micky will give you the hair relaxing treatment of a lifetime. Less maintainance for you, more excitement for her!

Micky’s goals can be simplified in to one sentence, “Becoming the best I know I can be.” She ultimately wants to become a technical and business coach for Lunatic Fringe so she can pass on her ways to other new and longtime stylists.

To get in to contact with Mickey, reserve your services with her at our Parleys location.
