Lunatic Fringe Salons raise money and awareness for a collection of charitable organizations, including, Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, Food 4 Africa, Children’s Miracle Network and more during annual fundraiser.  

Salt Lake City, Utah, March 15, 2010 – Lunatic Fringe hair salons present their annual fundraiser, Giving Back is the New Black hair and fashion show, Saturday April 17, 2010, 6:00 p.m., Pierpont Place, Salt Lake City; In a joint effort with Paul Mitchell the School, Salt Lake City — to raise money and awareness for a collection of charitable organizations. Giving Back is the New Black is the finale event concluding a three month fundraising endeavor. Lunatic Fringe team members and Paul Mitchell students take part in numerous “FUNraising” activities; including cut-a-thons, bake sales, raffles, and “Casual for a Cause” days as well as other fun activities.

The event will be hosted by local television news anchor, Karen Carlson of KTVK channel 4. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction of goods and services from several local business sponsors taking part in the effort to raise $50.000. The hair and fashion show will showcase the creative work of the Lunatic Fringe Artistic Team. The show will highlight dramatic hair trends and avant-garde fashions designed by LaBoucherie Design and Styling. Albert Chloe boutique will present a special fashion segment for the show and an exclusively choreographed dance segment by Transfusion Hype Dance Company will round out the production. 

Proceeds from the event will help support The Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation. Established to honor a cosmetology student whose struggle against mental illness ended tragically in suicide, the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation helps disadvantaged or hard-hit cosmetologists and cosmetology-related enterprises. Funds have provided educational opportunities, relief and financial services and support in the fights against breast cancer, domestic violence and other destroyers of self-esteem. Additional proceeds will be donated to The Larry King Cardiac Foundation, Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, Food 4 Africa & Children’s Miracle Network.

Lunatic Fringe founders and Paul Mitchell the School co-owners, Shawn Trujillo and Angie Katsanevas are guided by the belief that it’s more important than ever to give back in uncertain times. “It’s the law of attraction, when you give, you get — that law works no matter the economy. Paul Mitchell the School to host ‘TEAM LOLA’ – an eco-friendly car wash fundraiser to raise money and awareness for a child with a rare genetic blood disorder.  

Salt Lake City, Utah, September 3, 2009  – Participating students and teachers of Paul Mitchell the School in Holladay, Utah will be hosting a charity car wash and fundraiser  Saturday September 5,  2009 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at  Paul Mitchell the School, 1969 East Murray-Holladay Rd.

Proceeds for the fundraiser will go into a relief fund for toddler Lola Willford and her family. Lola has been diagnosed with the rare blood disease Diamond-Blackfan Anemia where the body’s bone marrow produces little or no red blood cells. At just under two years of age, Lola has undergone 19 blood transfusions as well as numerous tests including bone marrow biopsies. The medical expenses of Lola’s care have been an expensive burden for Lola’s parents Rachel and Jason Willford. A unique, eco-friendly, waterless product will be used to wash the cars — offered generously at cost to fundraiser organizers by Earth Goods General Store in Salt Lake City. Other local area businesses are providing support with refreshments, raffle donations with lunch provided by Lunatic Fringe Coffee Lounge, Holladay, Utah for car wash volunteers.

 Paul Mitchell the School located in Holladay, Utah is owned and operated by Shawn Trujillo and Angie Katsanevas co-founders and owners of Lunatic Fringe Salons in Utah and Idaho. Paul Mitchell the School is part of a nationwide network of cosmetology schools which offer training and certification in cosmetology related sciences and teaches the skills needed for today’s future professionals in the salon industry.

Shampoo Donation Drive for Women & Children In Crisis

Lunatic Fringe Salons in Utah participate in a shampoo donation drive for Utah County- based Center for Women & Children in Crisis; a shelter advocating, safe, and educationally based environment for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Salt Lake City, – In association with the organizers of partyutah.com, Lunatic Fringe’s four Utah locations will participate in shampoo donation drive along with three other local salons benefitting The Center for Women & Children in Crisis shelter located in Provo, Utah.

Beginning Friday August 14th, salon patrons and the general public can purchase a bottle of shampoo at any one of the four Lunatic Fringe Utah locations to donate to the Center during a fundraising event on August 21st. ‘Because of the domestic abuse these women experience, many aren’t allowed to take care of themselves well and most have to leave their homes so quickly with no time to gather personal affects. The donation of quality hair-care products is so important to these women to feel good about themselves,’ Explains Kim Kowallis, the shelter’s manager. 

A silent auction fundraiser sponsored by partyutah.com and date.com, will take place on Friday August 21st from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Skybar located at 161 West 600 South in Salt Lake City. The evening will feature live music, food and a wine tasting. Event attendees are asked to bring their shampoo donation for entry into the event.
