Lunatic Fringe Salons concluded their three month long fundraising effort in partnership with Paul Mitchell the School, Salt Lake City with a finale event hosted by Karen Carlson, news anchor of ABC 4 TV “Giving Back is the New Black” hair and fashion show on Saturday evening April 17, 2010 at Pierpont Place, Salt Lake City. The evening’s proceeds tallied $18,000. Event ticket sales a silent auction and private donations from individuals and local business sponsors contributed to the fundraiser’s success. “Our fundraiser is becoming a “destination” for people in our community, because they recognize the importance of what we are doing and want to be a part of it, it will continue to grow and serve the organization we support” explains Shawn Trujillo, co-founder and owner of Lunatic Fringe Salons.
The hair and fashion show is at the heart of this fundraising event. Lunatic Fringe artistic director Janae Johnson and her long-time collaborative partner and Lunatic Fringe artistic team member Steven Robertson assembled an amazing team of Lunatic Fringe hair stylists, make-up artists to create an astounding collection of hair and fashions styled by Michele Boucher of La Boucherie Design and Styling who designed a segment in the show. Kristen Frei, Lunatic Fringe stylist spearheaded the imaginative fashion segment sponsored by Albert Chloe Boutique. An exclusively choreographed dance themed segment, entitled “Soliders” was presented by the talented Ashlee Prentice of Transfusion Hype Dance Company.

The school has recently been nationally recognized during “Magic of Memories” dinner hosted by the Paul Mitchell network in Southern California for their contribution in raising $75,000 in 2010, for the most money raised amongst the entire network of schools for the third consecutive year.

Established to honor a cosmetology student whose struggle against mental illness ended tragically in suicide, the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation helps disadvantaged or hard-hit cosmetologists and cosmetology-related enterprises. Funds have provided educational opportunities, relief and financial services and support in the fights against breast cancer, domestic violence and other destroyers of self-esteem. Additional proceeds will be donated to The Larry King Cardiac Foundation, Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, Food 4 Africa & Children’s Miracle Network.
