Janae Johnson and Steven Robertson featured in the Colorist Magazine

Friday, May 14th, 2010

The hardest working hair dressers I know, Janae Johnson and Steven Robertson have caught the eye of Colorist Magazine editors in an article featuring their newest collection, entitled “Unleashed Confinement”.  The collection is comprised of bold geometric shapes and an impeccably coordinated color palate.  Robertson talks about being “obsessed with straight jackets” as a metaphor for the collection theme of confinement and breaking away which results in a beautiful but slighty disturbing narrative.

“Giving back is not just about raising money” explains Donny Osmond who extends his gratitude in an email sent to Winn Claybaugh, Dean of the Paul Mitchell family of Schools for raising $200,000 for The Children’s Miracle Network.

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

The famed Osmond words say it best about the passion and commitment displayed during the fundraising endeavors of the entire Paul Mitchell Family, Future Professionals and Lunatic Fringe Salons.

Dear Future Professionals and Industry Friends,

When Winn Claybaugh contacted Marie and me with an offer to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, we were surprised, to say the least. It’s not every day that someone volunteers to donate $100,000, but that’s exactly what the Paul Mitchell Schools did and we couldn’t be more honored.

We first met some of you at your annual Caper event in Las Vegas, where we were so impressed by your passion and energy. Then there was the Magic of Memories Dinner, where we joined you to celebrate your incredible FUNraising success. I was blown away when Winn told me that, due to all your hard work and the success of this year’s FUNraising campaign, the check to Children’s Miracle Network is not for $100,000 as originally promised but for $200,000! Talk about over delivering. I guess that’s to be expected from the Paul Mitchell family. You guys are amazing!

Prior to my performance that night, Winn asked me if I wanted to relax and prepare in the “green room,” but I told him I absolutely wanted to be included with the Paul Mitchell group before, during, and after my performance. I can sit in a green room anytime, but I wouldn’t miss a chance to experience the Paul Mitchell enthusiasm.

In the last few months, you’ve shown that giving back is not just about raising money. I’m thrilled that you’ve been reaching out locally to the 170-plus Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, and I ask you to continue giving your love, service, and passion. I promise that you will receive even more than you give, because that’s what happened to me years ago when I first got involved.

I know that Leeza Gibbons, Larry King, and John Paul DeJoria join me in thanking you on behalf of the wonderful organizations they represent. Congratulations to all of you for not letting the economy dictate your potential for raising money, awareness, and making a difference in the lives of others. Instead of getting discouraged by all the negative news, you raised a record $1.2 million! Please stay true to your beliefs and keep up the wonderful work that you do.

In my family, we were raised to believe that we all have a responsibility to give back and help others. I feel like I’ve found an extended family in Paul Mitchell Schools. Thank you for making me feel like part of your family.

Sincerely,

Donny Osmond
